INTERNATIONAL
LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Smart Classroom

STEAM at SDIS is an engaging interdisciplinary approach that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering/entrepreneurship, arts and mathematics. Unlike traditional teaching models where these subjects are taught independently, STEAM helps our students make connections across subject areas as they invent, analyse and explore concepts. This mode of learning is motivating and engaging because it is relevant and relates to the real world.

Our student-centred, inquiry-based approach ensures that teamwork and communication are a major focus in STEAM activities. Our students have the freedom to think critically, creatively, and innovatively as we challenge them to find solutions to problems. Even if they fail the first time, they are inspired to try again in a safe and supportive learning environment.

SDIS is the first school in Dhaka to have a total of 4 STEAM labs and Makerspaces just in the Elementary school. Our STEAM makerspaces are spaces that encourage the sharing of resources and knowledge and learning through hands-on exploration. Our makerspaces are part lab, part shop, part conference room, and are designed to foster a culture of
teamwork, collaboration and design thinking. In these spaces, our students build and work on projects together, using equipment that is both traditional (wooden
blocks and sewing machines) and cutting edge (makerbot 3D printers, coding robots).

Springdale Library

library

On the second floor of the Elementary School is our first library. This is where independence begins. Books are left under smart lights and in shelves that are reachable for our little learners. We showcase books as treasures. Children love to pick their own books and take them home to share with their parents.

Cafeteria

In support of social development, we have allocated two age appropriate cafeterias.
On the ground floor, we have the junior cafeteria, where students from preschool to kindergarten enjoy their favourite snack time.

Whereas, next to the auditorium is our large cafeteria for students in grade 1 to 5. Snacks and meals are served daily upon subscription.

Our cafeteria staff are well trained in hygiene and cooks a variety of dishes while keeping in mind the different allergies children and staff may be experiencing.
